Bill Durney – Founder, CEO & Executive Engineer

With more than 30 years of IT experience, Bill has seen just about everything that can go wrong with a computer, server or network. He has worked with clients ranging from individual users to multinational corporations, including Sony, Qualcomm and Hewlett-Packard. At RCN, which he founded in 2000, he provides overall direction, mentors team members, and ensures that clients are delighted with the service they receive. He particularly likes meeting new clients and tackling the challenges they bring him.

Mona Durney – President & Co-Founder

Her experience in business management and development has been critical for Mona’s role as RCN’s President and Public Relations Manager. With a background in Real Estate, including managing Escrow Departments and specializing in Commercial and Special Projects for Title Companies and Banks in San Diego County, Mona has learned the art of project management, business development and the skills to juggle multiple complex tasks. From developing training programs to keeping the finances in order, Mona ensures that the engineers and technicians have every tool they need to provide top notch service to clients.

Marc Jones – Cloud Services Manager & Senior Field Engineer

With more than three decades in the IT field, Marc has successfully managed several highly complex projects, including designing, implementing and managing data and security infrastructures; merging and consolidating networks; and installing high-speed data storage systems. He has earned several coveted credentials, including Microsoft Certified System Engineer and an ISO 9001 certificate from Lucent Technologies. A former technology company owner, Marc knows the importance of making sure that all clients get the quality service they expect and deserve.

John Herd - Senior Network Engineer

Prior to joining RCN in 2013, John parlayed his extensive experience as a Senior Network Engineer and IT Instructor in the United States Marine Corps into a successful business in British Columbia, Canada.  John has maintained networks that included more than 5,500 users and 40 servers at seven different nation-wide locations.  Since his return to San Diego, he has served large bio-tech firms, large investment firms and various other business models.  John has more than half a dozen certifications, and enjoys using his expertise to help work on the trickiest problems RCN encounters.

Jack Greene - Senior Network Engineer

Jack has over 15 years of Windows Server Administration and maintenance, as well as Linus knowledge as an administrator and user.  He has broad Network and wide area connectivity experience.  His storage experience includes many forms, including storage networks.  Basically, he makes computers talk to each other.  Along with this experience, he has also learned how to ask for help and provide guidance to others.

Steven Wagstaff – Shop Manager

Steven has been helping people in the Escondido area with their computer problems for more than a decade. At RCN, he manages repairs on client computers both in the shop and via remote support. He also monitors and maintains client backups and servers. With a Brainbench Certification in Customer Service and a background in quality control, he knows both how to treat customers well, and to make sure the job is done right the first time.

Cian Carota – Shop Technician

Cian has been tinkering with computers since he played “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” for the first time in the early 90’s on a DOS computer.  He grew up in the Monterey Bay area, and eventually moved to San Diego County to pursue a Computer Science degree.  At California State University San Marcos, Cian studied various programming languages and a wide array of subjects ranging from digital circuits to Artificial Intelligence.  With his Computer Science degree in hand, he joined the Rancho Computers team in early 2016.

Harry Romero – MSP/Service Engineer

Harry’s tech background includes direct support, managed services, network design, information management, and information security, all of which benefit the clients at RCN. He is constantly working on new certifications to ensure that he has the right skills to tackle complex issues, and will take the time to explain both the problem and the solution to customers.

Jeff Hamilton - Support Technician

Jeff has been helping people in the greater San Diego area with their computers and networks for over 25 years.  His experience and level of customer support, in the field and through remote support, gives you the highest level of client satisfaction possible.  An experienced computer professional, Jeff has a true passion for troubleshooting and resolving your computer and networking issues.  Along with this experience, he loves to help people and can translate technical language in terms you can understand.  Jeff has recently passed the CSNT-110 A+ Networking course from Palomar College and seizes the opportunity to learn and stay current with the industry.

Debbie Godwin – Office Administrator

Debbie keeps the RCN office humming, and is the cheerful face – and voice – that most customers first encounter. In addition to providing exceptional customer service to all of RCN’s clients, she stays on top of renewals for domain names, antivirus software, back-up systems, and more. If you have any questions about invoicing or price quotes she is the person to call.

Elizabeth Nelson - Customer Service Coordinator

Elizabeth has worked in the customer service field for many years.  When she moved to Escondido, she worked as the Dispatch and Licensing Supervisor for the Escondido/San Diego Humane Society, where she also got interested in IT.  Since then, she has worked as an IT Service Coordinator and Dispatch Manager.  She brings these excellent skills to RCN, which are invaluable to our mission of delivering the best service possible for our clients.

Gary Kuhle - A Better Connection - Lead Telephone Engineer

Gary has been in the telecommunication industry for over 30 years.   He is certified and an expert at ESI phone systems installation, as well as sound masking services.  Gary can program and service a wide variety of other telephone systems as well.  His expertise includes planning and installing cable for new build-outs, as well as re-cabling established facilities for expansion or to accommodate the newest technology.  Gary's background includes some general contract experience, which enables him to look at telecommunication projects in a more complete way.  A Better Connection serves as the Riser Manager for Emerald Plaza in downtown San Diego where Gary has been key in maintaining proper standards of workmanship.  His technical knowledge combined with his ability to provide exceptional customer service has made him a great addition to our team.

Dallas Traconis - Receptionist and A Better Connection Scheduler

Dallas's family started A Better Connection and she has been an integral part of its success.  That it why we were very happy when she agreed to join our team when RCN acquired ABC.  She continues to enjoy helping our clients with their cabling and telecommunication scheduling needs, and working closely with Gary to make sure that all the jobs run smoothly to completion.   Hers is the cheerful face, and voice, that you will be greeted by.

Michael Irvin – A Better Connection –Cable & Security Surveillance System Installation Technician

Michael has extensive experience and thoroughly enjoys building network infrastructure.  That is, building the actual closet that your servers, cables, and switching equipment live.  He has obtained an abundance of DEMARC extension experience for special circuits that are needed in the highest of buildings.  He spent 9 years as an Installation and Repair Technician for AT&T, which often had him climbing poles.  Besides his professional experience, love for and duty to the job, Michael has a fondness for Fiber Optics.  He was a contractor for Qualcomm San Diego for over 6 years as a Lead Fiber Optic Technician.  Mechanical splicing and fusion splicing is his specialty.  Michael also enjoys working with copper.  He has had jobs requiring over 500 cables, while installing low voltage security doors, intrusion detection, and motion detection devices.  IDF build-outs are his forte.  Racks, ladders, and sleeves are required.

Michael has lived in Escondido for 30 years.  His hobbies and interests include backpacking with his 2 sons, skiing with his family, and yes, shopping with his wife for anything!  Michael is an avid hockey aficionado.
